Back in the saddle

Peter seems to have completely pulled out of his obstructive type of episode. He is no longer needing to have his G tube open to drainage, and he is tolerating his Elecare again. He is appropriately asking for "milk" (Elecare) and is taking his goatmilk kefir again, and things seem to be getting down to the ileostomy again, looking digested. The duodenostomy bag has been replaced with a piece of gauze that is being changed two times a day, with less than 2 mLs of drainage per dressing. Peter is back to himself and we are ever grateful once again! We are starting the Elecare slowly though... 20 mL per feed today and we will gently work our way back up to the 55 per feed where we left off, and hopefully go on to even more feeds. We will avoid lamb for now though. Anything thicker than a drinkable fruit puree is going to be a "no" for now, nutritious or not.

hi, this is suz, with baby boy born 7/07 1.4 lbs, now 14 months old, weighs 12 lbs with SBS/NEC/Broviac/Omegavan/GT Pezzer #14. Needs to gain 6 lbs to be a transplant candidate the docs at Stannford said. We deal with sepsis infections about every other week. Distended abd, low then high fever, fussiness, lethargy, respiratory grunting. Gut to blood, line bacteria etc...I have so many questions--we are just out of the hospital after 1 year! I am wondering if I need to be putting an ice pack against his feedings at night? Or if I should change the tubing to the Omegavan every night before his infusion? I know you aren't a doctor, but probably could qualify as an NICU nurse by now! I am just new to this site, have read only 4 profiles as it took me all moth to find time to sit and search for a support grouop of Moms. Please send me to any places online that would help me set up his room tips, organize supplies tips, homecare tips overall. We have a 3 year old also who is a handful. Please write if you have any advice and so I can pick yopur brain as peter's case sounds similar, perhaps more critical. Liver disease , elevated WBC and low platelets are our challenges today. Waiting 5 cultures, putting vanco inside the broviac line to sit for 8 hours then withdraw. have you done this?
Thanx
Ps--cannot "see" any visual letters for the verification--this may get lost :(
